For people who want to know what Penrith Players is about, who might want to get involved or to just see what is coming up this season, there is a open evening on Friday 27 January for people to drop in any time from 6.00 pm until 9.00 pm. at the Playhouse Theatre. There will be key people from all parts of the club there who will be on hand to talk about acting, directing, back stage, wardrobe, sound and lighting, set building, and front of house support. Directors of the season’s plays will be around to talk about their forthcoming play, and people can eavesdrop on a rehearsal of the Players’ next main play “One Man, Two Guvnors”.
Visitors will be able to have a free glass of wine or soft drink in the newly refurbished theatre bar. Players’ Chair, Dennis Henderson, said: “As a club we have a lot to offer the town and area, and we want people to see what there is here for them. This is a great chance for those interested in the theatre to look at what opportunities are available here.”
Theatre Committee Chair Ian Baker said “We have a great full season coming up with plays like The Graduate, Alan Ayckbourn’s Communicating Doors, an intriguing play called “God of Carnage”, some smaller productions in the bar, two comedies from our Young Players section, and we round off with Toad of Toad Hall in December!”.
The Playhouse Theatre is behind Morrisons just off the roundabout near the Castle.
